As I’m writing this post, I have just FINALLY been able to put the garden furniture, pots and a few bits and pieces on the wee little patio we just built and it’s so nice that it’s all starting to come together!  Oh my god, I can’t wait to finish so I can show you!

However, as promised, despite currently being slightly obsessed with gardens and exteriors, and despite having the most gorgeous weather in any March I can remember since coming to this country,  I thought I’d pull us out of the garden and back indoors today, even if just for a wee bit.  In doing so, I wanted to share a colour that I’ve recently been very drawn to.

Now, navy is not a colour that currently appears anywhere in my own home but I am really loving the grown-up tailored look it brings to gorgeous interiors, especially when paired with white and other brights.

The pattern on pattern in the first picture below is just all kinds of fabulous and the colour combo of navy blue, bright white and coral is out of this world.  The little gold side table is the icing on the swoon worthy cake.

The combination of navy with mint green is just as inspired.  I would have never thought about putting those two together (isn’t there a rhyme ‘blue and green should never be seen’?) but it works gorgeously and looks so sophisticated in this setting.  Screw the rhyme, this is awesome.

I’m sure everyone in blogland has seen these amazing blue upholstered doors but my god, they are stunning with those yellow chairs and pops of fushia pink.

Now, this next dining room is incredibly masculine with the brown leather nailhead trim chairs and navy blue rug but good god it’s sexy.

I know I’ve showed off this room before on my blog but I think I’m in a little bit in love with that navy velvet sofa.  Don’t tell my chesterfield.

Oooh and how about paired with purple?  Again, never would have thought this would work but somehow, somehow, it just looks great.

via

Purple not doing it for you?  What about a pop of cerise with a big helping of navy and white?  Gorgeous, no?

via

I love how here, the navy punctuates all the pale colours, especially that lucious soft pink.  Yum yum.

via

This is a bit more subdued than what I would normally go for but neutrals get zhushed mightly nicely with the addition of white piping around navy blue cushions and a gorgeous geometric print rug.  I love the rug-on-rug action with the seagrass!

via

Another fabulous rug!  I’m dying here, are you dying? The coral works so well with it, doesn’t it?  Oh symmetry, I try not to love you but you keep pulling me back.

via

Even in a bathroom it looks amazing.  It almost looks black but you can see all the blue-y goodness where the light is streaming in.

via

Now, I’m not mad on the chair print, admittedly, but how fab does everything pop against the dark blue of the shelving unit?  Love it!  And that print, I just want to fall inside of it and roll around in all the colours.

via

Full on OTT navy blue?  Oh ok, go on then.  Hell, why not add a couple big f*ck off columns while you’re at it?  I mean, if you are gonna go blue, you might as well go all the way, no?

via

So that, my lovelies, is a roundup of some great rooms that use navy blue in all different ways – from the most subtle touches to an all out navy blue orgy.

What do you think?  Is navy the new black?  Would you add it to your space?  Which is your favourite combination?

Also, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve got a fabulous little competition coming up to win some free gear on Swoon Worthy Homewares!!
