I have some exciting news to tell you.

I’m privileged to be taking part in an exciting local event that’s celebrating some fantastic talent that we have here up North.  Now, I know that the general consensus is that Manchester pales in comparison to it’s more glamorous Southern cousin, London.  But things are building here and slowly an interior design scene is starting to bud and it’s starting to bloom.

The newest blossom is an event called Home is In the North on Saturday 26th April from 11am – 4pm at Halle St. Peters in Ancoats, Manchester.

The exciting news?  I’ll be taking part in the event as a demonstrator and I’m going to be sharing a workshop in creating your very own DIY art!  As you know, I picked up a paint brush after a 20 year hiatus and found new love in the creativity it brings.  So at the show, I’ll be showing participants how simple it is to create some beautiful pieces of their very own to take home.

Not only that, but I will be giving away some really lovely pieces created by local designers at the show as well as a chance to get some free tickets. Stay tuned for more on that in the coming weeks.

To support and promote the launch of ‘Home Is in the North’ there was a unique and conceptual image collective entitled ‘Home Is… Where?’  where five pop-up rooms were installed in various locations within Manchester city centre and Chorlton, to explore the concept of modern home.
Home is the North founder, Rachael Adams, of The Social Butterfly says, “In recent years we have been making homes that push the boundaries on 3 bedrooms semi-detached houses in suburbia. Our drive for newness and innovation has resulted in us experimenting with homes in non-traditional settings, be it converted churches, hospitals, mills, canal boats and even tree houses! We are no longer looking for a blank canvas to make our own and are welcoming imperfect features such as industrial girders and concrete walls into our home.”

I do hope you’ll join me in celebrating this fantastic event.  There will be some more information in the coming weeks but if you’d like to get some advanced tickets, please do see the information below.
