First, I’ll give you a bit of a sneak preview of my Christmas tree. I was a little hungover yesterday but when W suggested we take down the tree from the loft and just decorate it rather than tackling the entire living room and dining room as I normally do, I acquiesced despite my fragile condition. And I’m so glad I did because it’s really put me in the Christmas spirit especially as I watched The Muppet Christmas Carol while doing it. The only thing I was missing was an eggnog! Ahh, there’s always next weekend.
I decided to do a Christmas theme of turquoise, black, white and gold with a bit of leopard print thrown in for good measure which was part of my theme last year and that I loved.
I’ve got a few new baubles including a couple of these adorable Japanese baubles from John Lewis that I absolutely love. They make me smile whenever I look at their cute little faces!
You may have also spotted these cute black and white chevron baubles that I got from B&Q.
I also picked up a few of these cute stripey baubles while I was there.
The full reveal will be coming once the rest of the place is fully decorated!
Now, I’ve had my little artificial tree for a good few years now (I think around 8 years!) and I’m thinking it may be the last year for it as it’s starting to get a bit straggly. So I thought this year I would have a look at other trees to see what I could consider for next year. Always planning ahead me!!
I’ve been considering a white pre-lit Christmas tree. I don’t know if W will let me go for a white tree – he’s a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas but perhaps I can sway him with a few of these gorgeous images?

I absolutely love the way all the ornaments just pop against the white background and I figure if you are going to go fake, you might as well just embrace it! My darker baubles just get a bit lost against the deep green of my current tree so this really appeals to me.
Would you consider a white Christmas tree? Are you a die hard real tree lover? Or do you prefer something a bit more pretty like a pink tree (which I love as well but I know W would DEFINITELY not go for that!)…

Ha! I'm completely with W on this one! I'm a traditionalist and will only accept a real and therefore – by definition – green tree. Sorry!!! ;-) Hope your hangover is gone now and you're all wide awake for the new week! xo
Yep, got to be a real tree for us too. Nothing else will do! We've got a twelve foot (love Victorian ceilings) behemoth leaning against the wall outside having a good old' drink before we bring him inside. I'm giddy as a kipper in anticipation!
I gave up on real trees years ago, after stepping on a needle that had worked it's way into the carpet, in bear feet in May! I now have a 6ft black tree, tall but slimish. When I was a little girl (several decades ago) my Nan had a white tree and I was rather smitten with it, I thought our green one very dull by comparison. Not sure I'm of the same opinion now though.
LOVE the white trees! We do real trees but supposedly you can turn them white somehow? It's on my list for next year to try this out!
Ugh … I just put our tree up today. I enjoy putting the ornaments on, but everything else is no fun. I grew up with artificial trees, and so did The Mr., so we've only had artificial as adults too. Unfortunately every single light on our pre-lit tree is no longer lighting. I think one strand went out just about every year, and they're so freaking hard to get off the tree once they are
I do LOVE a real tree. I adore the smell of the pine through the house. Living in Australia we get terribly hot Decembers and that really brings out the scent of the tree. We do have to keep topping up the bucket of water that we put the tree in otherwise it quickly dies and starts dropping needles. My mother used to use a fake tree and it smelled of hot plastic! Yuck. I had to convince my hungover and tired husband to put the tree up last weekend (we start early round these parts), a couple of arguments later and we were having a blast with the Michael Buble Christmas album (there goes my street cred), a few beers and vast quantities of mince pies. Of course there is no symmetry/themes/set colours etc so it looks like a hot mess but it was fun. We have a 7ft
