One of the things I’m really REALLY looking forward to when my dressing room is finally complete is a bit of shoe storage.

Not my shoe collection (I totally wish)

From the early stages of planning for this room (some of which still stands, some of which I’ve already done and something that’s now changed but I’ll get to that in a future post), I had intended for a goodly amount of shoe storage.

Now, whilst I love my interiors, I’m not exactly a fashionista.  I like what I like and I have my own ‘style’ but I sometimes think I really need to grow up already and start wearing smart tailored trousers and fabulously expensive shoes and all that tripe but to be honest, I’d rather my pennies go toward pretties for my house rather than pretties for my body.  (After all, rooms never have fat days, do they?)

However, I do seem to have aquired a lot of shoes – shoes that while not exactly beautiful and expensive, need a home.  Enter Ikea with their fabulous Billy Bookcases.

Two of these flanking the window of my dressing are actually a perfect fit and I will have plenty of space left over to fill up with pretties.  That’s been in the plans for a while now.  Now, if I had beautiful shoes to really showcase, this is what I’d rather have.  I so love this idea.

However, despite not having rows of Jimmy Choos or Louboutin shoes, in my reasearch, I have come across lots of lovely storage ideas so I figured I’d share them with you.

This next example is another one that you can easily replicate with the help of Ikea – they do shelving units just like this:

Of course, if I had colour coordinated shoes (I don’t), I would totally not be hiding the rainbow of fruit flavours behind a door but it’s a practical solution if you are short on space and big on closet.

If I had the space, I would love to do a combination of shelving units like this.  I think this is just lovely…

Ok, if I’m really dreaming… how about walking into a dressing room like this?  (Lose the sign above the door though, it’s just way too twee.  The chandelier, however, can stay.)

I’m partial to a bit of lucite and this shelving unit just lets the shoes completely shine.

But simple is good too and can be equally pretty.

Back to dreaming?  How ’bout a full on boudiour complete with pink chandelier and cute, fluffy white pup?  Girlie overload!

I really can’t wait to get my own shoes in some sort of order!  Have you any creative storage solutions for your own shoes?
