There is most definitely something of the English Eccentric in the East London 18th century Queen Anne townhouse thatΒ  David Carter has opened up as a sort of super chic boutique bed and breakfast for the ultra trendy.Β  Initially used for photo shoots and film sets, with a recession hitting his interior design business, he decided to open 40 Winks to the masses.

The sitting room.

Word spread quickly and within a few months, the rooms were booking up simply on the power of recommendation and David’s home became the hottest hotel in one of the coolest cities in the world.

The kitchen.
The kitchen.Β  (I love the Fairy Liquid bottle.Β  All about keepin’ it real, eh?)
The gilded bathroom.

Looking at the images on the website, it’s not hard to see why everyone was falling and falling hard for David’s home.Β  With a very limited amount of rooms (just two), it carries an exclusivity and eclectic charm that other hotels just could never match.Β  The beauty of 40 Winks, however, lies in it’s incredibly reasonable rates.Β  Prices start at just Β£95/night.

Of course, with only 2 rooms available, they book up months in advance.Β Β  But if you’re feeling lucky and you want to see this amazing place up close and personal, click here for reservations.

If you can’t manage to wait for a room to come free, David also holds events throughout the year, from burlesque nights to pampering sessions.Β  You’ll have to get on the mailing list to keep up to date (apparently these things sell out within hours) but it looks to be a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

I think the gilded bathroom has got to be my favourite.Β  What’s yours?
