So I’m back after a lovely week of entertaining at home with friends which, genuinely, is pretty much one of the best things for a homebody like me. I mean, I don’t even have to leave my house and I’m still entertained – it doesn’t get much better really! However, I have missed chatting with you guys so apologies for the radio silence around here this week. I am back today, however, and I have no doubt you’re going to be as excited as I am to check out a new home and interiors company that hadn’t previously been on my radar – Urban Avenue.

Now I’ve repeated this so many times that you’re probably sick of hearing me say it but I do completely believe in the odd splurge for your home. While I personally can’t afford to cover my home top to bottom in luxury products (oh to dream), I do love the odd piece that just elevates everything else around it. So when Urban Avenue got in touch with me to check out their pieces, I found myself oohing and awwing over so many beautiful items that I knew I just had to share them with you here.

As you probably know, I have quite eclectic tastes when it comes to design. I’m a sucker for the odd contemporary piece nestled amongst good old vintage because it adds such a timeless quality to a room. The mix and match can be an art form in itself but when you have a beautiful sculptural item (like that stunning light fixture) contrasted with something more ornate (like that amazing ceiling rose), both pieces play off each other so beautifully, it’s like music. And yes, I particularly love contemporary lighting which will become really obvious in a minute here.

Anyway, let me give you a little bit of background on Urban Avenue before we pour over their gorgeous wares because I just love a good success story, don’t you?

Urban Avenue began as an interior design and upholstery studio, founded by Charlotte Pugh and her mother-in-law, Inga. Charlotte told me, “When we decided to add an online shop, we originally envisioned a select collection of furniture and decor items, sourced primarily from our existing suppliers. As we developed the concept, we talked with more designers and manufacturers, and our offering began to expand.” After many months of planning, they finally launched urbanavenue.co.uk in July 2016 so I’m really excited to be sharing this on their 1 year anniversary! *throws confetti*

Urban Avenue offers high-end furniture, lighting, accessories and children’s design. You can see the craftsmanship of the pieces throughout and the simplicity and beauty of the designs shines through. Charlotte said, “What was intended to be a very small online boutique has now grown to become the full focus of our business, with designs from over 40 brands available on our site. We are now the exclusive British retailers for several highly renowned brands, including Retegui Marble, Bent Hansen and Marmi Serafini.”

The materials are all refined and elegant with a focus on natural products and beautiful finishes and many of their products are available in multiple colours and finish options. Of course, I love a bit of marble as a luxury finish and the dining table above and side tables below are just stunning pieces of design which would work beautifully set against a few pieces of tufted velvet furniture or an elegantly appointed panelled room. I’m particularly enamoured by the peachy marble bistro table below. You can check out my post on why I think peach is going to be the new blush pink here.

I also thought these black shelves were rather striking. I know the rage at the moment is for white marble but I’m really loving the darker designs these days, particularly black and green marble finishes. These shelves also come in white, grey, brown and the same peachy marble as seen above plus 4 different wood finishes for the brackets.

As I mentioned as well, it’s always contemporary lighting that tends to catch my eye and Urban Avenue does not disappoint in this regard. How utterly beautiful is this green and copper light? It comes in other finishes as well including black and brass but my goodness, she’s a beauty, no?
