What do you get when you combine animal prints, mixing patterns, bold colour combos, boho accents, a dollop of glam, a bit of vintage and gold accents? You’d get quintessential Swoon Worthy, of course. But what do you get when you pull all that together into a single table setting? You get today’s post! And I have to say, this is probably my favourite table setting that I’ve done to date.

But first things first! I must introduce you to Halsted Design who has helped me pull this all together for you. A little bit about the company: Ardmore Ceramics is their sister company, a world renowned ceramics manufacturer from South Africa. Inspired by the creative designs of Ardmore, Halsted Design have taken their quirky and original ceramic designs and translated them into a line of homeware products. All the designs you see were inspired by the original artwork of the ceramics and the textiles were designed in partnership in the Natal Midlands of South Africa.

Halsted got in touch with me as they have recently launched their luxury textile designs here in the UK and wondered if I’d like to style some of their products in my home. As soon as I clicked over to their website, I was in love. They have the most stunning illustrative designs with gorgeous hues inspired by the strong tradition and culture of their native country and I just couldn’t wait to share them with you. In fact, if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you would have seen a few sneak peeks already!

Using their textile designs as a springboard, I was inspired by the jungle themes that appear in repeated motifs throughout – from monkeys and alligators to tropical birds and exotic plants. So instead of the usual floral centrepiece, I thought I’d break tradition and cluster a few big leafy plants for the centre of my table.

Letting the textiles take centre stage, I chose simple white pots for the larger plants and chose two gold votive tealight holders for the two smaller trailing plants. (By the way, I have no idea what those little ones are called if anyone has any plant knowledge they can share!)

The table cloth is a glorious thick cotton (seriously, you could probably cover furniture in it, it is soooo luxurious and tactile) and the colours are wonderfully vivid. It made the perfect backdrop for my animal print plates that I recently purchased.

Halsted also supplied a set of colourful napkins in bold prints that contrasted beautifully with the table cloth. Their designs mix and match so easily.

They also sent me a set of bespoke cushions in one of my favourite patterns – Leopard Lights Savannah. They work perfectly on my small hoop chairs in the living room but again, you can see how well all the designs compliment each other so I invited them to the head of the table for today! The quality of everything is so apparent as soon as you touch it – I can’t stress that enough but when you buy luxury products, well, you can tell they are luxury products.

Of course, no table setting is complete for me without a dollop of gold and so I had to include my gold bamboo cutlery along with a set of vintage gold glasses and gold glass chargers.

It was so much fun styling Halsted’s products in my home. Even if you aren’t having a summer dinner party, the tablecloth could easily be used as a gorgeous wall hanging, the napkins are beautiful enough to frame in shadow boxes and well, cushions can be used just about anywhere really!

And that’s the thing with high end, independently designed products. Whilst I realise these kinds of items will not be in everyone’s budget, I do believe in saving for good quality items if you are able to and buying good quality means they’ll last for a very long time. If you mix them with lower-cost items you can attain a much higher end look overall without having to splurge on everything. On my table, the plates are from H&M, the vintage cutlery was a steal on eBay, the votive glasses cost less than a pound a few years ago and none of those plants cost me more than a tenner. But using some beautiful fabric as a backdrop elevates everything to a luxury look, even the less expensive items.

There is a huge selection of products from fabric, cushions, table linens and even furniture on their current website but a new website will be launching in September to make it even easier for you to purchase online. Also, Cole & Sons will be releasing a collection of wallpapers early next year based upon their beautiful designs. Can you imagine a whole room decked out in these patterns? Utterly fabulous!

Currently, if you are based in London you can find their fabrics via Colony, located in the Chelsea Design Harbour. If you are reading from South Africa, there’s a stand alone store in Johannesburg. A new collection of fabrics and cushions is also planned for March of next year. Lots of exciting things happening for this young up and coming brand!

So, what do you think of my summer table setting? Would you consider bringing a bit of Halston Design textiles into your home?
