Why hello there my sweets!! If you have come here via The Inspired Room, welcome to my little home on the interwebs. Doesn’t Melissa just have the cosiest, warmest style? She does indeed. Ahhh for those who are used to hanging around these parts, don’t be confused. I’ve joined in another Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours, hosted by the lovely Lindsay of The White Buffalo and all this week, we’re visiting a whole bunch of different blogs, all sharing our Thanksgiving tables!

Check out my Blogger Stylin’ Home Tour for Fall here.

So let me first just say one thing – yes I’m American and yes, I live in the UK but I’m probably the last person you’d expect to set a Thanksgiving table setting. The reason? Well, I don’t know a lot of Americans living in this country who would celebrate it with me and as my partner is English, he doesn’t really ‘get’ the American holiday. And truth be told, growing up, my parents didn’t celebrate it either for their own religious reasons. And so, as a kid, because they didn’t, neither did I. So there it is – I’VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE. I know, I know, weird right? What the heck kind of American am I, anyway?!

As a result of this, although I’ve watched plenty of Thanksgiving dinners on television and movies and I’ve been able to enjoy Thanksgiving a couple of times with friends when I lived in the US, I’ve never actually made a turkey or yams or apple pie myself for the occasion. I know, does that put you off completely? I’m sort of a newbie at all this.

But well, I absolutely love having an excuse to set a table, I am certainly grateful for both the tangible and intangible treasures I have in my life and I figured it’d be fun to join in with something I’ve not done before. (And I’ll be honest, it’s probably more of an ‘Autumn’ table than anything else so even for those of you who don’t really celebrate Thanksgiving either, well hopefully you can still get some inspiration for setting your own table regardless of my own inexperience.)

I decided to go with rich autumnal colours and layer on the patterns. I do love mixing patterns and colours and so my various sets of dishes and glasses got mixed with gleeful abandon.

The gorgeous centrepiece is from DesignRaaga, a new discovery for me with some beautiful hand-crafted ceramics and gifts from around the world and they were kind enough to supply that beautiful planter for my table along with the two small blue bowls. This became the basis for the rest of the colourful settings.

I wanted this table to be warm and relaxing – not the kind of table that you’d be scared to move anything for fear of ‘messing it all up’. I wanted it to be deeply layered and a little bit whimsical and definitely a little bit ‘boho glam’ because well, that’s what I like.

I started off with my ‘tablecloth’ which was actually just a scarf I picked up at a charity shop for a mere £2. Adding texture was important to me so rattan woven chargers were used to ground the table and keep things from looking a bit too fancy.

I’m certainly no florist (I really need to work on that) so my centrepiece is really just an inexpensive autumn bouquet from the supermarket but it really did set the mood for the table and I added in my own blue and white vases with dried cranberry eucalyptus to add some height.

I also used another recent thrift find – 6 mini gold striped glasses (I assume they are for port) which fit a tea light perfectly in the base. Having small individual little candles at each table setting makes everything a little more cosy and inviting, don’t you think?

The plates are, as I said, a real mix. The side plates are all from Anthropologie and the dinner plates are 2 different sets I’ve had for some time, one from Zara Home and the other from Very.

The paper napkins (again, trying to keep things a little casual here) are also from Zara Home. Those little blue bowls from DesignRaaga just set off all the patterns and colour nicely and well, you can never have two many little bowls like that as far as I’m concerned.

So, that, my friends is my first proper Thanksgiving Table setting!
