Well it’s December and so I’m officially allowed to talk about Christmas! Yes the C word is finally allowed and while it seems to come earlier and earlier every single year, I’m actually a little later than usual to share my Christmas decor.  Today, however, is a little extra special and hopefully worth the wait. I’m kicking off the very first UK Home Blog Hop for Christmas. While our friends on the other side of the pond have been doing this for years, I figured it was time to get together a whole bunch of fabulous UK bloggers and share our homes with you too.

All this week over 20 different UK bloggers will be opening their homes to you to share everything Christmas related. We have home tours, beautiful trees, table settings, tips for getting a creative look, recipes and more all this week so please do check the bottom of this post to see ALL the tours which will go live throughout the week as well as the next blog on the hop so you can follow the whole thing through from here! That’s a lot of Christmas bang for your buck right there!!

So as the host, I’m starting off the week-long festivities sharing my dining room. You may recall that we completely revamped this room over the Spring and so I decided to decorate the space in shades of black, white, gold and blush pink! Well, I’ve never been particularly traditional in my Christmas decor…

While I purchased a few new bits and pieces, for the most part, I try to use things I already have around the house mixed in with Christmas decor I use pretty much every year. The truth is, I simply don’t have the space to store loads and so the more I can re-use and re-purpose what I do have, the less storage I need and the less money I need to spend!

I do like to mix things up colour-wise year on year however and I decided the blush pink in the room was the perfect foil for all the gold in here. I did pick up those velvet and sequin stockings at Next this year and I love how reflective they are with the little lights in the fireplace.

I adore these little white ceramic houses from Dot Com Giftshop which you may remember from last year. I was actually looking forward to getting them out again because they are just so sweet when they are lit up at night. Finishing off the look is a gold and white tree tea light set (from Next, many moons ago!) and a couple of large glass hurricane lamps (also old!) which I simply filled with pink baubles.

It’s the first year, that we’ve had our large sideboard in this room so I had a bit of fun decorating this for Christmas! I used two large prints from The Curiosity Department, candles and a gorgeously large glass Christmas tree graciously gifted to me by One World Trading. Inside the glass, I simply used a gold garland from West Elm and gold and pink baubles. I really love how it came out all filled up and love that it can be changed every year.

The sideboard was decorating was complete with a little tray (a DIY!) filled with gold glasses, a stack of Christmas plates and bowls plus a few quirky items – because nothing says Christmas like gold elephants and pineapples. WHAT. Oh and that white thing is an Amazon Echo* which is my new favourite thing ever.

On the black console table, it’s like Christmas-in-the-tropics! My white deer statues (from Wayfair last year) surrounded by leafy plants and I simply filled a large gold bowl with pink baubles. The ‘fill everything with baubles’ is a running theme around here if you hadn’t noticed. It’s cheap and easy and looks great!

I also figured I’d show off a few of my vintage glasses on a gold tray along with my ‘Cheers’ object from West Elm. My print from Society6* finishes off the vignette as well as a pineapple filled with gold cutlery.

I kept the table fairly simple but I really love how festive it came out. It’s so easy to create a centrepiece with a cake stand, some baubles and a tray full of glasses. The pretty bottle of spirits matched the theme – it’s Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb and Ginger Liqueur* and when I spotted the pink bottle, I knew I had to have it!

I layered two table runners – a gold and white one I’ve had for years from Zara Home and a really simple blush pink linen one from West Elm. A little bowl of chocolates and some pretty gold napkins and we’re ready to party. On Friday, I’ll be sharing the fully set table so stay tuned for that!

Speaking of party, my bar cart got a little festive as well with the addition of two white LED Christmas trees I purchased from Rockett St George. I love these things SO MUCH.

They are so pretty and glowy at night and I added a few tiny baubles to the branches to tie in with the gold look. I also used a few little sprigs of greenery here and there to make it a bit more Christmassy.

Oh, you’ll also notice that I repeated a trick I used last year (I’ve actually done this many times before!) and I covered the large colourful abstracts with leopard print gold foil wrapping paper. They were sort of jarring with the theme so simply wrapping them with paper makes them blend better with the rest of the decor! It’s such an easy way of updating a room for Christmas and it looks rather festive. You can even add large ribbon bows to make them look like giant presents on the wall!

So that’s my Christmas dining room! It’s the first time I’ve been able to decorate this space since the remodel and I’m really quite pleased with how it turned out!
